Key Responsibilities
Conduct property consultations—remotely or onsite—assessing suitability for bat and owl housing, surveying for existing wildlife, and designing custom habitat plans.
Perform installations of bat houses and owl boxes, considering optimal placement regarding height, sunlight exposure, guano management, and structural support.
Provide annual maintenance for owl boxes—cleaning, safety checks, and occupancy assessments.
Safely relocate and repair bat and owl boxes as needed, especially during building renovations or structural changes.
Execute humane bat exclusion services to keep bats out of structures while respecting wildlife safety.
Monitor installed habitats—tracking activity, identifying species, assessing roost conditions, and suggesting improvements.
Educate clients—homeowners, farmers, and vineyard owners—about bat ecology, benefits of wildlife housing (like pest control, environmental stewardship, and educational opportunities), and best practices.
Qualifications (Required)
Solid understanding of bat and barn owl behavior, ecology, or experience in wildlife conservation or habitat management.
Skilled in assessing property features (sun exposure, height clearances, proximity to water) and designing effective wildlife housing placements.
Experience with installations, maintenance, and repairs of wildlife housing structures.
Knowledge of humane wildlife exclusion techniques.
Strong communication skills—both with clients and conservation partners.
Reliable transportation for on-site visits.
Commitment to coexisting with wildlife and promoting conservation.
Preferred Qualifications
Basic construction knowledge and comfort with measuring, mounting, and securing structures.
Familiarity with power tools, ladders, and safe installation practices.
Background in environmental education or public outreach.
Technical skills in wildlife monitoring and species identification.
